Whiskey in the jar

Januarys are pretty unattractive.

At least, they usually are. Post-Christmas blues, gloomy cold weather and to make it worse, I’ve been keeping off the alcohol all month in an attempt to do a ‘dry January’.

But this year, there has been a little shot of excitement with the management of a shoot for rock photographer Nick Elliott on location with classic rockers Thin Lizzy.

The first part of the shoot was in a studio in Bedfordshire where the band, complete with full stage set, was going through an entire rehearsal prior to the start of their tour the next day in Glasgow.

The twelve clients of Christmas

As a consultant I’m on the constant look-out for opportunities to promote my clients and, with time at a premium, it is often difficult to dedicate any effort to promoting myself!

So, this festive season, I decided to create a small campaign to raise awareness of the range of services I offer amongst existing clients and to encourage potential clients to commission me.

Having cultivated a decent amount of followers on the social networking sites I’m active on, I decided to use this medium to communicate a simple message on a daily basis, with a view to creating repetition and cultivating expectation.

To tie in with the season, I chose to adapt the festive classic The 12 Days of Christmas incorporating details of an existing or past client, details of a service or skill, and driving traffic through to my website.The ultimate call to action was to commission me…obviously!

Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day

Dickens’ Scrooge may have the monopoly on memorable Christmas dialogue but the music business certainly knows how to coin a phrase with the Christmas song being an essential ingredient of our festive menu for some time.

As if by some invisible force, the moment the calendar flips over to December 1st (or more often now, November!), radio stations around the country delve into their archives and dust off a collection of classic croons, festive party anthems and odes to lost loves.
